Not a landscape photographer.
I’m not a landscape photographer. You have to get up WAY too early in the morning for that, and I need two cups of coffee and some generous alone time on the throne before doing anything. By then the sun’s already up and much like my hopes and dreams, those 15 minutes of beautiful sunrise light are long gone.
So anyway, on another California desert road adventure, I just so happened to be driving by this place with a buddy, and he asked if I’d ever been there, which, of course, I hadn’t, so we turned off into the park. It’s literally right off the freeway, but once you get in a little ways (and I do mean little), it’s like you dropped right onto the surface of the planet Mars. It’s a very strange and wonderful a landscape. It’s called Red Rocks Canyon State Park and it’s worth checking out, especially if you want an interesting place like no other to car camp (which we didn’t).
